Our Mission

The Chess Ministry uses the royal game to disciple young people in patience, foresight, and diligent study. Every lesson on the board — think before you move, guard what matters, finish what you start — is a lesson for the walk of faith. Through chess clubs, instruction, and friendly competition, we help students grow as scholars and as servants of Christ.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
— 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

A Ministry Within a Movement

The Chess Ministry is a ministry of the International Scholastic Ministries Department, part of the Auxiliaries In Ministry (AIM) of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). Scholastic ministries exist to motivate excellence in study and learning among our youth — and chess is one of our favorite classrooms.
